Understanding Energy Healing: Reiki, Crystals and Calm

21 July 2026

Energy healing is often described in language that either overwhelms or alienates. In practice, a session is quiet, structured and deeply ordinary: you rest, you breathe, and you are held in a calm space for an hour.

In a Reiki session, the practitioner works with light touch or hands held just above the body, moving through a sequence of positions. Most people describe warmth, a heaviness in the limbs and a slowing of racing thoughts. Many fall asleep, which is welcome rather than a problem.

Crystal work adds a focus point. Stones are placed around or on the body to bring attention to particular energy centres. The intention is not magic but alignment — a way of concentrating attention on the parts of yourself you have been ignoring.

Energy healing complements care; it does not replace it. Medical treatment, therapy and nutrition all continue alongside. What healing sessions reliably offer is rest, and rest is the ground everything else recovers on.

If you are new to it, begin with a single session and notice how you sleep that night. That, more than anything said in the room, will tell you whether it is for you.
